Charles Mercier is professor of contemporary history at the University of Bordeaux. His research focuses on the history of relations between young people, religions and globalisation, and on the history of secularism in the educational context. He has devoted several articles and a book to the history of World Youth Days: L’Église, les jeunes et la mondialisation, une histoire des JMJ.
